It can't be full during the day, full moons start rising almost exactly as the sun is setting, because to see an entire sunlit side of the moon the earth has to be almost right in between them.
You may have seen a nearly-full gibbous moon, or the full moon at twilight or just as the sun was rising or setting, but since it is almost directly behind the earth relative to the sun, you can see it at most as it is rising during sunset, or setting during sunrise. It's the same reason you can't see a new moon at night, because the moon is almost exactly between the earth and sun.
