Danbooru

Bug report: Images don't show up

Posted under Bugs & Features

I don't know why the images aren't showing up
They were working earlier today even
When I try to browse Danbooru currently, I can't see any of the thumbnails, and if I go directly to a drawing's page I can't see it either, but I can see the image file if I click (view original)
I don't really know what might cause something like that so I just thought I would ask I guess
My Web browser is SeaMonkey, but when I tried it in Pale Moon the images did show up

Are the images you are trying to look at rated sensitive and are you using safe mode by chance? Because safe mode was changed very recently to just not display rating S images anymore. So that might be why you can't see most of the Danbooru catalog anymore. (Assuming you weren't logged in in the other browser, images would display since safe mode is off by default.)

I tried SeaMonkey 2.53.12 and it works as expected. It's likely something on your end. You should try checking the console/network monitor and see if they have anything to say about it.

I am using SeaMonkey 2.49.5, as it's the last version that supports my OS
The network monitor does not report any images being downloaded, other than the Danbooru logo and a few icons when I clear the cache

General rated images don't show up either
I logged out on SeaMonkey and still got the same issue

There was an update yesterday that made safe mode only show rating:g posts. If you're using safe mode and not seeing images you expect to be able to, that's why.

Is there a way to revert this?

That doesn't quite work since limited amount of tags usages per search (gold membership can't be bought right now) and using the blacklist method still shows the images for a briefest moment and also still makes searching for artwork a hassle since it doesn't outright get rid of the nsfw stuff like safebooru and just leaves empty spots on the page.

I hate when places just do a change for no reason without giving people the option to opt out.

is:sfw and is:nsfw don't count against your tag limit.

If you read topic #21277, forum #215738 in particular, this wasn't done for no reason.

I understand the reason after reading through all of that now, just wish we could have an option on safebooru or another booru that functions exactly the same way it did before this change. I'll guess I'll survive but man I miss the old version.

I posted a small userscript to automatically add is:sfw to all searches in forum #215937. Together with blacklisting rating:q and rating:e it is similar to old safe mode.

Thank you for linking this and probably coding that userscript too, makes my life easier.
