create alias pushbutton -> button_(switch)
Pushbutton is a word I haven't heard spoke aloud even once in my entire life. This alias makes the tag much more intuitive for any users under the age of 60.

tbh "button (switch)" doesn't really make it any more obvious what this tag is for.
We should at least have "button (something)" as an alias. If you're trying to tag something like post #4758963 and the only name you know for those things is "buttons", it'll save you some grief.

create alias momentary_switch -> push-button
other rather common term for a push-button

Perhaps, but the advantage it does have over pushbutton is that if you start typing "button", the proposed new version would be suggested. Of course, changing to "push-button" would satisfy that too, and I'd consider that moderately more clear than "button (switch)". Whatever gets used mostly needs to disambiguate from clothing buttons, and "push-button", despite being called antiquated here, does the job: it's the kind of button that gets pushed. If we have to go with a "_(something)" tag, then I agree with NWF Renim that "mechanism" would probably be clearer than "switch", even though the latter is still accurate and more specific.

Auro-complete was recently changed to find matches anywhere in the tag, not just the beginning, so "button" works regardless of whether the word "button" is at the beginning or not.

create alias pushbutton -> push-button
I'll go with push-button because that's what Wikipedia uses and because it works with autocomplete when searching "button". I don't like button (switch) or button (mechanism) because I hate it when I'm reading a tag list and I see tags with awkward qualifiers you wouldn't use in real life. Push-button may be uncommon but button (switch) is more uncommon.
