It's officially called "DP-27", not DP-28

create alias dp-28 -> dp-27

Quoting the Wikipedia page:

The official designation 7,62-мм ручной пулемет обр. 1927 г (7.62mm Hand-Held Machine Gun Model 1927). It was called the ДП-27 (DP-27) or just DP in use, besides the aforementioned soldier slang name of "Record Player" due to the disc-shaped magazine.
For reasons that are unclear, it is often called the DP-28 in the west, even though no Soviet sources ever used that designation. It is possible, since the Soviets generally named equipment referring to the first year of use, that western sources became confused between the initial service testing date of 1927 and the general service distribution date of 1928 and assumed it would be called the DP-28.

The weapon was accepted into Soviet Army service in 1927.

Even the Wikia page for character Tachanka also said that his signature weapon is the DP-27.

Thank you for reading this suggestion. I think using the more "official" designated name of certain firearm must be a more better idea.
For instance, this site uses the actual name AKS-74U to describe the shortened variant of AK-74, instead of using the inaccurate terms like AK-74U or "Krinkov".

Updated

While this is all true, my primary concern is that there is a character that is officially called "DP28". I'm not sure if changing the weapon type from the colloquial name to the correct name would be a good decision since it might also cause confusion with tagging that character, among other issues. Perhaps an alias for the tag for the weapon from DP-28 to DP-27 would be better?

I am open to suggestions regarding that character, however.

That's not a great reason to keep the tag as is considering there's already AK-74U whose gun's official name is different than her own name.

Then there shouldn't be any concerns then, thank you. Would an alias also need to be created so that people wouldn't recreate the DP-28 tag after renaming?

Thank you for more thoughts. Did you mean aliasing DP-28 into DP-27 too? Sounds like a great, reasonable idea.

Yes, I agree that an alias would be better as people would likely make the mistake of creating "DP-28" again if we renamed the tag from "DP-28" to "DP-27".
