Ambiguous Name for Yuuki Makoto

Official spelling is "Yuki" with one U, though, right? I haven't played the game, but that's the article title.

That's what I'm confused about, too. Is it a romanization thing? Is Yuki the offiical English spelling?

I've just checked and we don't have any other characters named yuuki_makoto or yuki_makoto, why exactly this name is ambiguous?

Also, if we do need to add a qualifier after all, +1 to yuuki_makoto because it's a correct romanization of the character's name.

Here:
yuuki_makoto_(ensemble_stars!)
yuuki_makoto_(yotsunoha)
yuuki_makoto_(rakujitsu_no_pathos) (Although this one has no posts? Apparently it exists, though).
+ an alias tag for jacques_portsman

I don't know what you checked, but it isn't correct.

EDIT: As for the romanization, I believe we use the romanizations used in the official English versions on this website? Unless they're completely translated into a completely different name. Correct me if I'm wrong, though this is what I've recognized.

Ah, you're right. I guess I'm sleepy already. Sorry about that.

Kinda. That was the decision, but it was a controversial one. Many people did not agree back then, including me.
What's more important, this decision is not uniformly enforced, some tags still use correct romanization even if official one is different.

In those cases, is it because it's the name most recognized by people in the fandom? Persona is a very popular franchise and a long-lasting one as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if most people do recognize this character as Yuuki Makoto.

That makes sense, thanks for explaining.

It's probably because no one's cared enough to try to change them. We don't actually get that much done around here, if there's a tag that hasn't been fixed, it's either because no one noticed, or no one cared. Very common with more niche copyrights.

That's a good point.

Pixiv uses Makoto Yuki as well. Should I change it back to Yuki rather than Yuuki?

That's true, but it's not always the case. I do remember some BURs that tried to alias proper romanization to official one and failed.

Edit:

Pixiv uses Makoto Yuki as well.

For the record, anidb uses Yuuki Makoto and at MAL it's Makoto Yuuki.
