what really qualifies something as "humor" as opposed to "funny" tag?
"funny" tag is a really general/broad one, so it is included for a lot of pictures. But what really makes something worth tagging with "humor?"

Oh, I don't think humor is useless, as long as it's used in the sense of "the artist was going for humor" and leave users' opinions on whether or not the artist succeeded out of the equation.
It certainly would help with tag searching. Load up Danbooru, search for humor - "Okay, Danbooru, whatcha got for me today?"
It would be a monumental task to tag all appropriate images with it, though.

This was more what I was referring to when I said it was useless. Even if some hero of legend went through all of Danbooru as it stands and tagged humor appropriately, given what we see with solo, I have no reason to believe that it would do anything but fall into a black hole of neglect immediately afterward.
We can nuke comedy in the process too, which has stopped seeing use a year ago.
In the meanwhile stuffs like post #408684 might be worth to pool.
Are there enough types of visual gag to make a tag group out of them? pun, seiyuu_joke, etc.? I'm not sure. It seems wrong to put them in the group with memes.
Also, while we're getting rid of funny things, joke and just_kidding sort of need to be formalised or demolished.
