Tag Suggestion; Fairy_tale

Posted under General

I noticed we don't seem to have a tag for images referencing old fairy tales or Folklore, like with post #909290 (tale of the bamboo cutter) or even for existing tags such as little_red_riding_hood.

My idea is we can create a tag, such as Fairy_tale, to help organize images that are based off of old childhood stories like little red riding hood, the three little pigs, as well as japanese stories.

another name for this tag could be Folklore, though its currently being used as an alias for folkssoul it seems.

Thoughts? would this tag be of any use if implimented?

Would it be worth adding the specific fairy tale if its known as well?

I think it would be worth it. It would help to identify what story the image is based off of, plus if little_red_riding_hood gets a tag, i think its fair for other stories to get tags as well.

Only issue i see is what would count as a fairy tale and what wouldn't? Should we add Greek stories and Epic Poems as well? should stories from the Bible count as fairy tales too?

also, does pixiv have tags for these stories? that alone would help tagging images that are already on the site.

I think we should separate fairy tales from mythology and religious tales.

I would suggest caution to avoid polluting the folklore tags; some major game series and anime characters are outright shout-outs to the old fairly tales, and it wouldn't make a lot of sense to tag those except in very, very exceptional cases.

Example: bulleta, from the vampire_(game) series (who is unmistakably Little Red Riding Hood gone bad), or houraisan kaguya from touhou (who is, in-game, one and the same with Kaguya-hime of Taketori Monogatari).

I think we should limit to cases where the tale_of_the_bamboo_cutter is referenced too, as the example did.

I think we should un-alias folklore and use that. It's more inclusive than fairy_tail and illustrates the point of the tag better. Add a _(game) qualifier to folklore, alias that to Folkssoul, and add a note to the bottom of the folklore wiki if need be.

Removed the existing folklore alias so it's open now.

Most of the images relating to it are tagged with the alternate name, kaguya_hime (used as a copyright and not a character).

I would rather go with the tale of the bamboo cuter, since the story of Kaguya_hime falls into the umbrella of the former rather than the other way around.

The problem with this is that from what I can tell, they seem to be two separate telling of the same basic story.
