For those who are unaware, Oscar, the Knight of Astora, is known for his use of the following equipment:

*Elite Knight set
*Astora's Straight Sword
*Crest Shield

If a character in a Dark Souls picture has that COMPLETE set of arms and armour, feel free to put in the tag. Now...

This one is hard to tell since we can't see the design on the front of the shield. The shape is that of the Crest Shield, no doubt about it. The only thing that doesn't strike me as a part of Oscar's equipment is the quiver of arrows on the character's waist.

Yup, that is definitely not Oscar. The Silver Knight Shield is not a part of his armaments.

That does look like Oscar, although some would debate that he wouldn't look up Priscilla's skirt. I'd leave this one up for the "tag what you see" rule here. The armour set is stock for Oscar, but the hilt of the blade suggests one of two things: it is not the Straight Sword of Astora, or it is an error of detail by the artist. There is also the matter of the design of the shield resembling that of the Dragon Crest Shield. Unless the artist has specified that the character in their picture IS Oscar, I'd remove the tag for the time being.

Another hard one to tell, but it does look like Oscar. It is the same issue as the first example with the shield being hard to identify. Aside from that, it would be safe to assume that the black knight is fighting Oscar.

protagonist_(dark_souls) would probably be the only option.

That may be a difficult tag to manage since the protagonist of Dark Souls is us and everyone, meaning it wears different armour, uses different weapons, miracles, sorceries, and pyromancy. The design of the protagonist is not set in stone for everyone plays differently (unless you run a Giant Dad build).

Thank you for your reply.

I know that in danbooru, we to tag to what it is appeared. But it feels kinda weird to put knight_of_astora_oscar with just appearance alone.

All players know that he died in Nothern Undead Asylum at the very start of the game and has no chance traveling to Lordran to met a black knight, gargoyle or any other monster out there.

Also he is not the only NPC that wear those gear, there's Prince Ricard in Sen's Fortress too (but he use rapier and buckler). It is obvious that those Elite Knight Armor guys are players. And it seems like fan art community usually use this armor set to identify a character as a player too.

Should we instead use something like 'Elite Knight' as a tag for those Armor set appearance ? Most of Dark Souls characters don't show their face and we identify them from their armor all the time anyway.

Playstyle has literally nothing to do with tagging a shape.

What I mean is the player character is based on the player, and therefore has no defining features. It would be too intangible of a tag.

That could work. At the very least, it identifies what the character is wearing.

Customizable player characters are a taggable concept.

It's certainly harder in the case of Dark Souls, but still feasible.

Hmm, I see. Maybe a customizable_character tag would be fitting for the situation--not only for Dark Souls, but any game with character customization?

Such a tag would be a chaotic mess that only serves as a modifier for other tags. Pass.

It's not like most of these custom characters don't have a title that we can use in lieu of an actual name. The PC of Dark Souls could be tagged undead_hero or chosen_undead, for example.

I just smacked myself on the head for not thinking of that. How could I forget about the game-given title of the character you play as in Dark Souls? chosen_undead would be a great tag for the player character, especially for this kind of situation.
