style_parody vs. official_style re: ZUN and Alphes style mimicking

Posted under Tags

Currently most Touhou images drawn in the style of ZUN or Alphes (tags oota_jun'ya_(style) and alphes_(style)) are tagged with style_parody. The wiki page for style_parody says that the tag is for images mimicking the style of other series, and that the official_style tag should be used for images mimicking the style of the series the character is from. Because of this, should ZUN- and Alphes-style-mimicking images featuring Touhou characters be (re-)tagged with official_style instead? (Of course, non-Touhou characters drawn in these styles would still be tagged as style_parody.)

For a franchise that does not have 1 consistent artstyle throughout (such as touhou),

But touhou does have a consistent artstyle thoughout, ZUN's. It's his series and no one else's. He let's others do the art of some side works, but that doesn't mean that it's the official style of the entire series. His art is the basis for the style of the whole series including the side works.

I'd say official_style for imitations of ZUN's style and style_parody for imitations of everyone else.

Offical style is for art that mimics the original franchise art. So I wouldn't tag the creator of the franchises touhou art as official style because its not him mimicing himself. Style parody is for mimicing someone else's style not just doing something different.
