Separation of distinct visuals. I don't like noise in my tags.

I already gave an example in the form of Sasaki Chiho. Compare the two sides up in her civilian dress (post #1503698) to the short twintails she wears at work (post #1465663).

Yeah, for example, if you're specifically looking for images with both hairstyles on display, the current search of sasaki_chiho two_side_up twintails gives only 7 relevant results out of 21. It would be nice to try to enforce a separation for searching purposes, though it would be too hard to do so completely because the twintails tag is too large and Toks is right about it being unintuitive.

Please read the wiki for short_twintails:

the example has two side up though, so I thought it was simply not updated after the two side up tag was introduced. That's why I wrote

since we have two_side_up for short twintails and long hair

Even all the examples in topic #9606 are two side up. Perhaps I am unimaginative, but I have yet to see any example of short twintails with long hair that is anything other than a mistagged two side up.

Whether you consider those posts "mistagged" or not doesn't change the fact that the posts exist and are tagged with short_twintails. There are at least hundreds, but probably thousands, of posts like this and creating the implication you suggested would cause them all to be mistagged with short_hair.

I still don't think limiting twintails to bulk-of-the-hair is a great idea since it's unintuitive and people are going to continue using the tags in the more intuitive way in the future regardless of how we try to limit them. But for the sake of argument even if we did decide to do that then the twintails and short_twintails tags would need to be cleaned up before any implications are done. The wikis would also need to be updated first too - the short_twintails wiki still says that long hair is applicable.

Also, if we did decide to limit it like that, why would we need to keep the short_twintails tag? I think it would be redundant with a short_hair twintails search.
