Fujimaru Ritsuka implication

Posted under Tags

BUR #4750 has been rejected.

create implication fujimaru_ritsuka_(female) -> char:fujimaru_ritsuka_(fate)
create implication fujimaru_ritsuka_(male) -> char:fujimaru_ritsuka_(fate)

Same reason as other chars with the same concept, like Corrin_(Fire_Emblem).

E: The same implication should probably be made for the Fate/Extra equivalents of Kishinami Hakuno that also has no umbrella tag for both genders.

  • The pokemon protagonists are significantly different to eachother visually, and have different personalities in the manga.
    • I'm unsure about the Pokemon GO protagonists though.
  • Same thing applies to P3 protagonists, afaik they have differing personalities.
  • Female Admiral, Female Commander, Female Doctor/Male Doctor are fanmade tags, which also sometimes vastly differ from the original design.
  • I can't speak for Lumine/Aether, but they look like having different-enough designs.

Fujimaru Ritsuka is similar to Kishinami Hakuno, in that both tend to wear the same clothes and have the same name (similar to FE player Avatars like Corrin (Fire Emblem)). As such the gender change is mostly aesthetic and isn't as radical as is in other characters, so they could be easily swapped around without changing the scenario.

If this is a reason not to implicate them, isn't it equally applicable to this suggestion? M-Ritsuka and F-Ritsuka don't look anything alike, even more so than Lumine and Aether.

(That said, in Genshin, both Lumine and Aether exist in the setting and the one you don't pick as your playable becomes an NPC with story relevance. In FGO there's no indication that the Ritsuka you don't pick actually exists in-universe. So they're not quite comparable.)

Chaldea Uniform and Polar Chaldea Uniform are their base uniforms, both without much change between sexes.
The only thing that really changes between them is their hair and face, but the clothes are the same.

I'm personally neutral about Lumine/Aether tbh, i don't know much about genshin.

That's because, as the tags say, they're uniforms. No one would argue that any other two characters who happen to wear the same uniform are excessively similar because of that.

I'm pretty neutral on this too and would approve of any standard that's consistently applied, but I think similar clothes are a weird reason to decide 'alternate' characters should have an umbrella tag rather than being treated as distinct characters, especially when in the company of more basic appearance differences.

I'm going to go against the grain here, because I don't think it makes sense for us to have them together.

The characters are visually completely different save for their uniform, which is really not enough to imply them together as was already stated before. They're two different characters, a parent tag helps nobody.

If that's the route we go, I could also see it being taken a step further and nuking the umbrella tags for Corrin, Robin, and Byleth from Fire Emblem.

The former two wear the same clothes but have distinct hair, faces, and accessories. Byleth's only similarity is the hair color.

I feel like this may be a case of nobosy ever questioning the practice before.

I personally think the tag would be useful for searching artworks in scenarios where it doesn't matter whether the protagonist is male or female, or for when it's uncertain who the portrayed character is.

post #4370862 is the image I was uploading when I brought this up with Prov on the Discord, as I thought the tag already existed and thought I was going crazy that I couldn't find it. It's definitely the latter case.

Even so, I have a feeling such cases are very rare.

Since they have the same name, you can just use a wildcard search of fujimaru_ritsuka* for the same effect. This isn't needed.

That said you can't tag a wildcard, the post in Veradux's comment just above is one example of a post where the character is decidedly Fujimaru Ritsuka due to the shape of the command seals on the hand, but is not shown to be either the male or the female version. Which one do you tag, then?

I don't know if there are many more examples of posts like that, but all in all I completely agree with this:
