Model Rename and Implication

Posted under Tags

BUR #9273 has been rejected.

create alias model -> scale_model
remove alias model -> scale_model
create implication model_kit -> scale_model

Looking through the model tag it looks like it's been confused for the modeling tag a lot. I think it should be renamed to scale_model. Also model_kit should probably imply scale model.

Questions
  • Should figure imply model/scale_model. The model wiki says it should be used for "A scaled version of ... an actual person", but if figure implied model it would make up the vast majority of the tag.
    • If figure shouldn't imply model, then we should probably rename model, maybe non-figure_model.

Edit: This BUR used to include an implication, alias, and corresponding explanations relating to the nude_model tag. Those have been moved to topic #20782.

Imo model shouldn't be aliased to anything, it should just be cleaned out and kept as a disambiguation page due to how potentially ambiguous it is.

I agree. I've changed the BUR to an alias & unalias because most of the posts are scale models and it wouldn't let me rename.

Also I don't think a scale model tag is necessary, we already have model kit for the same concept.

Everything from a model kit is a scale model, but not all scale models come from a kit (for example Hotwheels). I think and implication from model kit -> scale model makes more sense than an alias because of posts like post #4755593, so I've added it to the BUR.

I've started gardening the posts with modeling out of the model tag. Help would be appriciated.
