imply tearing up -> tears

Posted under Tags

After checking about two pages of posts with "tearing_up -tears", all of these posts have visible tears, yet none are tagged with it.
Same thing with "crying -tears", with a few possible exceptions, because I can't see the face, or the tears are fairly low down, making it look like sweatdrops.

    Fukumoto has a very distinct expression for tearing up that doesn't involve concrete tears: post #4933662

    I'd argue that the "droopy" part of the eye is the tear. Also, the facial expression looks more like dread, than crying, but I don't know the show, nor the context.

  • I have never understood how this tag is different from a tears -crying search, and no one has been able to explain it to me so far.

    That's more of a teardrop.

  • I'm not familiar at all with its actual tagging usage, but I've always thought tearing up described someone who is about to cry, or beginning to cry. In the former of those cases, there won't be tears yet. Similar to how have to pee generally doesn't overlap with actual peeing; by analogy to this, tearing up can essentially be seen as 'have to cry'. Again, just to me; or how I think the tag would best be used.
