Those are the same rifle, but a shorter official designated name is preferrable. See the Wikipedia page.

Sorry, how? But IWI Tavor do have shorter name that refers to the same weapon? IWI Tavor has a Wiki page, the latter does not. It was TAR-21 which was aliased into IMI Tavor TAR-21, also IWI (Israel Weapons Industries) is its present-day manufacturer. Looking forward for further arguments from others. The name IWI Tavor itself covers numerous variants.

A more general term. The exact same object, it can also store other type of non-firearm weapons as well. There are two tags here. Here, we've got weapon rack instead of gun rack. Hear me up.
The short name is aliased to the long name. Did you even check the tag page?
Once again sorry, what's the point of having two tags for the same object? It was just the TAR-21 which was aliased. Why not using the shorter name instead?

Because a shorter name was already aliased to the full name. For consistency's sake it's better to keep the full name so we don't have unintuitive implications like tar-21 -> iwi_tavor. It's not like it's a commonly used tag, so we don't have to make it shorter for convenience's sake.

Hold up, the english wikipedia page uses "IWI Tavor". Which one is the correct one? If I search "imi tavor" on google I get a correction for "iwi tavor".
Also, please make a separate thread for each different BUR, otherwise it becomes hard to follow different requests if one causes disagreement, like in this case. This is especially true in the case of highly specific topics, like for guns, because we have to make sense of them despite not necessarily being experts in the topic.

Since the company's name is currently "Israel Weapon Industries" IWI would probably be better.
(Do BURs automatically redirect existing aliases, like the current tar-21?)

I am sorry about that. I thought making a lot of threads for weapon related tags would be spammy. As if we only need single thread for artist alias requests. You are right about that but another user resists on aliasing it into longer tag -IWI Tavor TAR-21. But shorter one but correct is preferrable, right?
