Call of Duty character name aliases

Posted under Tags

BUR #15967 has been rejected.

create alias john_price -> captain_price
create alias soap_(modern_warfare_2) -> john_mactavish
create alias simon_riley -> simon_"ghost"_riley
create alias ghost_(modern_warfare_2) -> simon_"ghost"_riley

The three of them are the same characters under different name, okay. Also, I would rather avoid in parentheses as possible, while using full actual non-ambiguous name is possible.
Feel free to add more or criticize this BUR.

Then why are you getting rid of one of the full names? And why would you remove the nickname from one of the tags while adding it to the other?

Why are you advocating for their full names? People don't know Ghost as "Simon", or Soap as "John"; they know them as Ghost and Soap. By all means, add utility aliases for their real names, but the main tags should be their codenames because that's what a majority of people know and refer to them as.

I mean, the Howto:Tag page does say "Always use the character's full name in your tags." Obviously this could be a reasonable exception, all I personally care about is consistency.

...my opinion doesnt hold much weight as i know nothing about call of duty, but i have only ever seen this character referred to as "ghost", not "simon riley".

also having an alias in quotes in a character tag is just very silly to me. thats what tag aliases are supposed to be for!

BUR #16089 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

create alias rodolfo_parra -> rudy_(modern_warfare_2)
create alias alejandro_vargas -> victor_1-1_(modern_warfare_2)

The CoD fandom is the only one who uses the real names of the characters most of the time, basically the people who are very familiar with the game since from the outside their characters are known by their codenames and not by their real names. (An example of this is Overwatch, with some of its characters, such as Soldier 76/Reaper, only part of the fandom calls them by their real names)

Anyway, if someone agrees in this thread, I would like to add aliases for 2 more characters...

Sometimes I don't get it why would this site prefer a copyright qualifier instead of full character name while not involving any potential spoilers. But I still feel fine with it as long as character names are correct. Thank you for your additional ideas. I appreciate it. Still, aliasing is a good idea in order to prevent duplicate character tags.
For some reason, we've got Tateyama Ayano instead of Ayano (Kagerou Project).

I would also agree with this one. Captain Price is still a well known name among players. I think this can also apply to his reboot
