deprecate tools

A tag that's seems overly broad and not likely to be see much value with search, ala like rodents, people are looking for a particular tool, not "anything that looks like a tool". this is matched by the fact that even wrench is triple the size of this tag, despite being a case of not really having another type of itself for say, combat. If there is a desire to find particularly non combat related axes, hammers or what have you, dedicated tags for them should be made given they typically have a distinct design.

If there was an image depicting what are fictional tools of some kind from say a fantasy or science fiction setting, for example someone working on a spaceship and using said tools, would it be worthwhile having a tag (other then the overly broad tools tag) for such depictions if they existed? There have been sci-fi series where they will have their fictional and frequently nameless tools that may be visually identifiable as tools even if they have no name.

i assume your talking about stuff like "omnitool" "sonic screwdriver" etc kinda stuff? those are typically series particular and thus are likely to have a particular design, so could probablly get their own tag

Your examples are a bit too iconic, especially something as iconic as the "sonic screwdriver." But even for some tools that might be named, I'm not sure it's ideal to have to rely on specific tags for every single fictional fantasy/sci-fi tool. For example Star Wars' "hydrospanner" or Star Trek's "hyperspanner." But for every named tool, there are usually plenty of unnamed random sci-fi tools (examples). Sci-fi series especially will frequently make up their own kits of random assorted fictional tools used for their electronics and equipment, so it wouldn't be odd for depictions of random assorted fictional tools to end up existing.

I think this BUR should be reconsidered, the tag is incredibly broad and the name is ambiguous, a relic from 14 years ago when it was introduced.
We have posts tagged tools for literally anything resembling a tool, from surgical instruments to minecraft pickaxes.
