Currently the profile picture tag is being used in a weird way with drawings that feature a fake profile picture (example: post #7419742) being lumped in with those that are intended to be used as profile pics like post #7905878. How bad of an idea would it be to separate this tag into two to prevent it from being used the way it is being used now? One would be for profile picture inset while the other would be for actual profile pictures. An alternative solution would be to not tag square profile pictures at all and use it like in the first example or viceversa.

Updated

If we were only keeping one, I think it would be better to be more conservative and use it for what the wiki currently describes. But the profile pictures in posts with text messaging could be something worth tagging as some users might find them interesting even if they're only used in that image, so I vote for splitting the tag.

Why are people using profile picture as a substitue for portrait and upper body pieces?

Maybe it should just be depreciated

Usually because social media profile pictures are upper body pics and those are likely sourced from some artist's pfp. I know they definitely are with those caststation ones at least. I'm not against deprecating it but I feel like we should at least reach some sort of consensus first.

Just made a favgroup for non-social media profile pictures
I haven't made the BUR because I'm unsure what to call it. Profile picture inset doesn't sound bad until you realize someone could mistag stuff like how Knowledge Seeker implied.
