Are breast curtains sensitive or questionable?

Posted under Tags

I’d generally rate them as Q, especially if the breast curtains are so small they’re pretty much only covering the nipples. But if the curtains are large enough to cover most of the breasts and the positioning isn’t overly provocative, it might get away with an S rating.

Or maybe I'd consider whether the areolae are shown or not.

I heavily lean towards Q if the breast curtains are the only thing covering the breasts, since they are very prone to accidental exposure of the nipples due to the nature of their design.

Which isn't the case for most posts with this tag on this website. Almost all of them are S-rated.

Your original question was about cases in which they were the only things covering the breasts, not the tag as a whole. Barring other factors, the rating should be based on how much skin is exposed. A Q rating can still apply even if the areolae are not visible.

Also, many users have trouble understanding the difference between S and Q, whether due to old habits, ignorance, or apathy. We often have breast grabs and topless women with pasties slip through because of this. We used to have a lot more breast grabs in Q, but I rerated most of them a while ago. At this point, I just check to make sure the new ones aren’t being underrated, but days when none slip through are rare.

I have not done much gardening for breast curtains, so maybe it’s time I give them a once-over.

For reference, howto:rate defines this as S:

Skimpy or revealing clothes, including swimsuits, lingerie, underwear, cleavage cutouts, playboy bunnysuits, skin tight or impossible clothes, etc.

And this as Q:

Near-nudity, such as highly revealing clothes or swimsuits, clothing that barely hides nudity, and clothing that is partially removed or torn.

I'd say there are circumstances where they can be S, depending on how revealing the outfit is overall, but they shouldn't be overlooked when making that call. zadi (revenantart)'s default design is one example of breast curtains taking an outfit from "regular lingerie" to "barely-covered nudity" (despite being usually rated S as of this post). Exposure is also important, of course, and visible areolae is definitely Q.

Excluding works with extra fabric under the breast curtains (i.e. basically bare breasts). Most of them are still S-rated.
I'm not disagreeing with y'all, I'm just new here, so I wanna gather as much info from as many users as possible.
