If we don't then how should we define mouth piercing? Its wiki already lists labret piercing and lip piercing.

I think that if we consider the piercing being anywhere just outside the mouth as mouth_piercing but somehow not if it is just below the mouth then it's kinda silly.

I don't mind if lip_piercing can be considered as separate from mouth_piercing but currently, it seems to be considered as a kind of mouth_piercing.

I can see the concern with tongue piercing but I did consider that if the piercing is inside the mouth then it is definitely mouth_piercing and would justify tongue_piercing as a kind of mouth_piercing too.

Tbf, I only really support the first line of the BUR. But the other two are there as I want to see other opinons and if we can reach some sort of consensus.

create implication labret_piercing -> lip_piercing

Alternative BUR

After further discussion on Discord. It seems that we can just consider piercing in the area immediately above and below the lips as lip piercing too. And piercings in the area right beside the mouth can just be cheek piercing.

For the hypothetical piercing inside the mouth, if they exist, maybe we can make the tag inner mouth piercing if it's ever needed.

I think this tag or something similar could serve as a useful umbrella tag for searching. We already have other vague (and arguably too broad) umbrella tags like jewelry, so I wouldn't see a problem with facial piercing covering "any piercing on da face".

This is true but I do think there is a chance someone might want to look for posts with facial piercings — right now their options are like piercing -navel_piercing -penis_piercing -nipple_piercing -back_piercing or eyebrow_piercing or nose_piercing or bridge_piercing or mouth_piercing or cheek_piercing or chin_piercing or anti-eyebrow_piercing or tongue_piercing. neither of these queries include or exclude all the piercing types

labret piercings aren't exactly lip piercings, they're between the lip and the chin. This implication would make it much harder to search for piercings that are actually on the lip.
