These two tags are being used to describe the same thing, even the wiki for ribbon baton states that it's used prominently in the athletic sport of rhythmic gymnastics. There are currently 201 posts under ribbon baton where
- 166 posts are also tagged with gymnastics
- 35 posts are not tagged with gymnastics
So ~82% of ribbon baton posts overlap with gymnastics ribbon, maybe more since most of the remaining 35 posts look like gymnastics ribbon anyways, minus these exceptions: post #7726863, post #653673, post #1788632.
Since you can still search ribbon baton -gymnastics, only reason I can see to not approve this alias is if we wanted to create implications gymnastics_ribbon -> rhythmic_gymnastics
