Twitter's Broken (Again)

Posted under General

So as we all know, Twitter has us rate limited, which makes Twitter annoying to upload from, but doable if you're patient. But recently, I've found Twitter to be completely utterly busted. Like, just flat out telling me it's not working. I initially thought it was the rate limit, but no, it's persisted into today, which is why I'm here. Has anyone else run into the same problem?

Same. Since yesterday morning (my time). Been following Discord somewhat and from what I gathered, Evazion said something changed in Twitter's API that borked Danbooru's scraper (and many others that depended on said API).

For now, just uploaded thru direct image links w/ Dtext userscript for the commentaries. Annoying and I have to save a list of addresses for later scraping, but there's nothing else to do but otherwise wait for any progress.

Updated

Two userscripts that are able to ease the pain:

NTISAS
Surely I don't have to explain this extension or its author, but one underappreciated function is that it adds an Upload button to the /photo/ view when you click on an image. It grabs the fullsize image and immediately passes it to the Danbooru upload page, bypassing the rate limitation problems entirely.

Copy Dtext
Handy script that copies the text of a tweet with perfect Dtext formatting.

Well damn, that's pretty much what I thought happened once I realized I wasn't upping anything outside manually. Guess there's nothing else to do but wait for Evazion to fix it. How annoying...

I had the first one actually (and didn't know it had that feature go figure), but I had no idea about the second one! Definitely gonna need that, as hashtag-only commentary is so damn annoying to copy over manually.

The same thing happened to me. I tried to upload an image from Twitter (or rather, check if it already exists), and the system wouldn't let me. It says:

Upload failed: (link) doesn't contain any images.

Any chance this remedies over time?

It looks like gallery-dl figured out or is figuring out a workaround and I imagine that because Twitter is one of our core sources we should see a fix and deployment soon. I wish other things would also be fixed along with that but one can only hope. Twitter for sure though, at some point.

I have the same problems as well. I can't upload anything from Twitter. It always just says "Unable to upload. The link doesn't contain any images". Only been uploading from Pixiv and the like

I'm also on mobile so using extensions and image urls is out of the picture for me. The only option left for me is to wait for it to get fixed

I hope it gets fixed soon. Twitter is a major source of art. I'm hoping it gets fixed eventually

Gonna keep this forum tab open in case an update comes out that it has gotten fixed so I can be informed quicker

By default, you can copy the direct image URL for non-animated Tweets, even on mobile. Danbooru automatically rewrites those to the best version when you try to upload them. You do have to manually enter the source, commentary and artist, but it's very much possible.

Idk how to do that. I clicked on the picture on the tweet. Hold it. And copy the picture as well

I then post it on Danbooru and it still says "Unable to upload"

If it doesn't allow you to copy the link directly there's usually still an "open in new tab" (or similar) option. Try to use the fullscreen view of the image first (so tapping on it a first time). The link you get should start with https://pbs.twimg.com/, and you can upload that link to Danbooru directly.

Just did as you told me.

It worked! Thanks a lot!!

Just another question if you don't mind

I was told I have to add the commentary of the post manually

Should I add the artist commentary on the "Original Description" section or something?

Uh, how do I upload a .gif from Twitter? NTISAS doesn't work since there's no "full screen" photo view for gifs, and I can't figure out how to get the direct image link. Other than right-click to "copy gif address" but that doesn't really give me a direct image link either.

I guess I could use a third-party downloader to fetch the gif from the copied address and save it to my hard drive, and it does work, but now I don't know whether they messed with the gif in the process with recompressing or whatnot.
