Does Headdress Need Addressing?

Noticed that headdress is a mash between maid headdress, lolita hairband, frilled headwear and more ornamental types of headdresses. As the wiki is written, to my understanding, the tag is seeing a lot of misuse. Cleaning it up would be great but I think something more long term would need to be done if my understanding of the tag is correct, especially as wiki change four years ago hasn't seemingly done much. Would be good for when some more of the deprecated headwear tags get cleaned up too potentially. I don't really have any suggestions hence making a topic without a BUR attached to it

On a related note, what are the options for differently coloured maid headdresses? Seen a few of those in the deprecated coloured headwear tags and idk how to replace them since maid headdress doesn't imply hairband.

...isn't that what is expected from a headdress tag? Headdress should be the catch-all tag for "decorations for the head", mostly decorated hairbands either worn by maids, in lolita fashion (lolita hairband), or simple frilled hairbands; because this is how headdress has been used since its creation. Excluding of course hair ornaments, hats, circlets, tiaras, etc.

The weird thing to me is the lack of implications, specially maid headdress -> headdress. It's true that it makes it easier to search for headdress without showing up maids but isn't that what frilled hairband, lolita hairband, lace-trimmed hairband and so on should be used for?

In my opinion, at least the wiki should be simplified and account for how headdress is actually being used by users.

I feel the way the tag is currently being used (that being including things like maid headdress, lolita hairband and frilled headwear) just make it harder to find the the types of things that use headdress as a fallback tag due to lack of options or tagger knowledge.

It just feels too ambiguous and is used in a way that detracts people from the necessary tags (seriously take a look at headdress -maid_headdress -lolita_hairband -frilled_headwear. A significant amount of it would just fall under one of the three main tags). As much as it pains me because I want to clear out deprecated tags as much as possible, it might be worth deprecating it because the usage feels kinda bad.

We actually have a good amount of alternative tags for headdress so you could argue for deprecation, but how would you look for unconventional headdresses then? At least with headdress and blacklisting I could find post #8977116, post #8650472, post #8552916, that don't fall in any of the frilled type of headdress (though, its a clear minority of posts).

Maybe a separate issue but in that search I see some posts that may fit better as headpiece, I think headpiece should be used for metal decorations that are not circlets or tiaras, like post #9273676, post #9273028, post #9260842
