*_symbol -> *_(symbol), or *_(logo), etc

Posted under Tags

I think there's a tiny bit of ambiguity that should be addressed about *_symbol tags. I'm uncertain as to whether these should be aliased or if they should be renamed, so I'm outlining all of them as such instead of submitting a BUR right away.
Additionally, certain tags like phallic symbol or japari symbol may sound strange as (symbol), so it might be necessary to completely alter the wording to something like phallic_iconography or japari_logo. Those types of tags I've put at the end.
Do note that I'm only including tags with over 100 posts for now. The rest would be quite the undertaking, and it's best to discuss what is agreeable first.

… so, what is the ambiguity?
I guess I'm missing something, but I don't really get the premise behind this proposal.

I can see one which stands out as ambiguous: no_symbol, sounds like no_humans and such. That one could be improved if nothing else.

Rehashing what I said in forum #374247 for my interpretation

Cases like @ (symbol) and x (symbol) are literally the symbol and should have a qualifier.

Cases like chevron and asterisk are the names of symbols and so should have a qualifier. The Delta Rune is presumably the name of the symbol itself. The star symbol may represent actual stars, but (like the heart) has transcended that and become the name for the symbol in its own right and you'd call it "a star", "star-shaped", etc.

The batman symbol is a symbol that represents batman, but the symbol itself isn't a batman. Using a qualifier doesn't make sense here.

Ergo, I think the Greek letters would make sense with a qualifier but not most of the others.

Although "@ symbol" would still make sense as a tag name if there's a desire to avoid qualifiers completely.
