Unfair handing-out of negative records?

Recently, I gave the user FoxerX08 a negative record for his history of (mostly) dumb comments.

But as you can see, someone else has decided to give him another negative record for the exact same reason. I don't really think that's warranted.

That's not fair, is it?

No, it is not. The user has already been warned once. Giving him another neg that's just echoing the previous one within such a small time frame is totally unwarranted.

It's pretty common, and usually not intentional. If someone does something stupid in public, they're probably going to get negative reactions from multiple people. But no, two aren't needed. So people should check existing negs before adding another.

Yeah, I would figure that when it does happen it's because a person is writing-up a record, but doesn't know someone else is doing it at the same time. And that's completely fine. However, in this instance, the other person already knew about the previous record (he even went as far as using my username in the body of it).

But anyway, it's not really a big deal, and we already got it sorted-out. So let's just let this sink into the depths now.

Well, if you see someone giving him neg for the very same reason as you did it, you can always revoke yours, no? After all, it's not important who's giving the neg, most important is what for.

This is true, but that depends on him noticing every time someone duplicates one of his neg records, which is unlikely. Some are going to slip through by mistake if people keep doing it.

So it's worth bringing up just to discourage people from duplicating negs like that.
