I've been lurking for a long time, and I have lots of things to add, but Danbooru has been around for a long time. Without privileged access, I don't really know for sure what's already on the site.
So here's what I was thinking. I could post all of the gallery shots of Wind -a breath of heart- both ero and non-ero. I didn't see any results when I did a search for it, and not many people have played the game. Translation finished on it this year.
I would also be happy to provide links to a direct download of this game and the site for the translation team.
However, doing this without posting about it would be somewhat futile, since I'm hoping for an invite.
So, let me know if there's any interest. I'll tag them the best I can. I guess I would have to tag it with Wind_a_breath_of_heart ? I'd better do a bit more tagging research first.
Ugh, nevermind. I did a search using underscores. I've been beaten to it. There's still some stuff that's missing though. I'll go ahead and add it. I'll operate assuming all the ero is there.
Oh well, here's the links I was going to give. I'm sure they're probably on this site somewhere too though.
It's gonna be hard to come up with any new content to add. I underestimated this site a bit. It really does have everything. Now I want access even more!
Foiled again! I can't add it! Rules say game CG's aren't allowed. Ok, well, I'm fresh out of ideas. I don't know what I could possibly add that would be of any interest that this site doesn't already have. I guess I'll seek some alternative ways to help the site.
Actually, it seems like there might some ways to handle this. The current images for Wind -a breath of heart- are all screenshots from the game's album. This is technically not allowed. I could report them.
However, rather than a literal reading of the rules, I think the *concept* of the rule is that there not be massive batches of images with only slight changes in them. And it's not the artwork in Wind is bad or anything.
Therefore, I could also add many images that follow the meaning of this rule, rather than the rule itself. I would avoid posting similar images.
We have some of the Ever17 gallery images too. I could find other examples if I really wanted to, but we already have plenty of album images from ren'ai games.
I think what they DON'T want is for us to upload every portrait of characters in ren'ai games. You know, the ones that are nothing more than a few sets of bodies with a few sets of facial expressions or outfits laid over them like a virtual paper doll.
In fact, I'd like to upload the rest of the nice looking Ever17 gallery images (not the character portraits used in the rest of the game), but I haven't because I don't want to violate the rules. May I? o.o
Ok, I'll upload them. I don't really see much reason to hold back though, they're all pretty good, at least in my opinion. The art was the best thing about that game. If only the plot were better... Makes me feel sorry for the guys who spent three years translating and programming it.
Personally, as a fan of visual novels, I wouldn't mind seeing the entire set of gallery images on here. That way I can delete the games and/or images and save space.
Oh but wait, I'm probably supposed to have PAID for them, huh?

Yes but you can imagine that gets massively spammy. Besides, generally in any given full CG set, for a given 100 images, maybe 10 are backgrounds with no characters, 10 are menu screens, and the other 80 are like... 20 sex acts in 5 different stages (blinking, not blinking, jizzed on, not jizzed on, jizzed on while blinking only the left eye, then repeat all of the above for different colored panties).
So we really don't want to come in and see 100 CG images in a row. Even with the parent/child relationship. Just link to a rapidshare or something if you really want to put the full version up. Posting full CG sets just isn't what danbooru is for.
Edit: Oh and by the way... Danbooru is not your personal external HDD. Do not rely on Danbooru to "store" your images for you. Lots of people did that before it went down the first time, and now they're SOL.

Well, I didn't mean to quite that extreme. Even taking out the minor variations, which I had no intention of adding, there's still at least 50 completely different CG's in Wind. Each one is intended to remind you of part of the game. It's not like I would save every variation on my own hard drive. I would just pick the best one of that "set" and move on.
I didn't really mean to start an argument or anything. I was just saying my piece. I can certainly NOT post them. I'm all for less effort. I was hoping you'd have SOME faith in my taste, since I'm... you know, literate. I certainly had no intention of adding 50 variations of one picture. I was going to add 50 completely different pictures, maybe 10 at a time, and see how it went. I was going to keep the search window open to avoid duplicates.
You'll have to forgive me, I'm slowly feeling out the community that I'm talking to. The rules are a bit draconian for a site that I was hoping to find good porn on at 3am.
Obviously I'm going to have to change my mindset. I mean, there are certainly some good things that these rules bring about. Everyone is much more helpful and competant. Everyone who isn't, after all, is driven away.
How about this to help out... I'm in the middle of learning Japanese. I can take a crack at translation. I'm not promising perfect quality, but if all you want is better than nothing, then I could learn while I help.

If they weren't draconian (though really, they aren't that bad) you'd be finding lots of *bad* porn at 3am instead. And a lot of really bad stuff still does get uploaded to the moderation queue as is, so having mods in place is a good idea.
The CG thing is just a general rule of Albert's, because he thinks most CG of are low quality (and generally they are), and it's his site. That said, if you can get down to a manageable number and maybe not upload them all at once, game cgs *are* allowed. It's not a matter of trusting your taste or whatever, it's just a matter of trying to apply the rules fairly.
So within reason, upload what you think is good, and if we agree, it'll get accepted.

More translations are always welcome, if you have faith in your ability to do them. ่ๆ and LaC and others might be able to give advice on anything you are unsure about.
If you do translate anything, make sure to add the 'translated' tag, or change 'translation_request' to 'translated' if that tag is there.
At any rate, someone who is willing to contribute is always welcome.
Caveat. Recently, we've been getting some really poor translations, which people then have to go and fix. In that case, the translator gains something (practice), but the community gains nothing (what good is an incorrect translation? especially when there are other people who could have provided a correct one), and the people who have to clean up lose something (time). Therefore, it's not really a contribution to the site: it becomes just another service you get from it.
I don't want to discourage people from trying their hand at translating, but if I see new users flooding the site with crappy translations in an attempt at attaining privileged status, I'm going to have to start dishing out reports. And for the same reason, before you invite a user based solely on note count, make sure that his contributions are actually worthwhile.
