bad proportions <-> bad anatomy?

Posted under General

In my mind, bad proportions is a subset of bad anatomy. "Bad anatomy" could mean an improperly bent joint, or a torso that starts and stops randomly to fit around another object; "bad proportions" is a kind of bad anatomy wherein the artist completely failed at representing human proportions, such as a head far too small for the torso on which it's mounted.

Actually, in the first full page of bad anatomy, I can only find one I would consider bad purely because of the limb proportions. The remainder are sufficiently "proportional," in that the heads and limbs are the right size or length, but suffer in other ways. Easilly catagorized are posts with wrong joint placement / function (1 2 3 4 5) or misplaced / badly spaced orifices (1 2 3 4 5) . One has already mentioned bad hands.

Then there are bodies with miscellaneous structural problems, which could be as numerous as the number of curves on a body. Oddly shaped breasts (perhaps "not ideal" rather than "bad"), a disjointed crotch, impossibly narrow torsos, a mysteriously endless ass (as well as asymmetric breasts, but that's neither here nor there), too high and disappearing butt cheeks, armpits that just won't stop, and whatever the hell this is.

I'm not seeing the problem with the rest or people are being too picky.

I suspect many such cases of flagrantly bad human body proportions either didn't pass the mod queue, or were flagged and didn't make it twice.

The example I was thinking of earlier was post #640879. Look at the size of Yukari's head compared not only to her bust, but also the perceivable width of her shoulders, waist, and hips - the head's clearly undersized.
