In my profile it says I've posted 16 images. But my uploaded section shows I've posted 1. Is this because the other 15 were "explicit" or have they just not been approved yet? Once this question gets cleared up for me I think I'll understand every aspect about uploading images.

You can't see explicit images regardless if you uploaded them.
You can tell if something's not been approved, since it's listed under your profile under the Deleted posts option (you can click on the number to "see" them if you have any, which you don't).
All your other posts (aside from ones in mod queue, I think) are listed under your Posts section.
Also, if you save the link you get after you upload an image, you can go back to it and check if it has been approved. When Questionable content was still locked and I wasn't privileged, I used to keep a text file with links to all the questionable images I had uploaded, cause I wanted to see if they got approved and how they were rated.
