Tag Implications: nagato_yuki_(shoushitsu) -> nagato_yuki and suzumiya_haruhi_(shoushitsu) -> suzumiya_haruhi

Posted under General

Since I've never actually seen the shoushitsu versions tagged without the original tagged as well, these implications are seemingly fitting.

nagato_yuki_(shoushitsu) -> nagato_yuki
suzumiya_haruhi_(shoushitsu) -> suzumiya_haruhi

I still think that these don't deserve their own tags.

They are just Haruhi with long hair and in a different uniform, and Yuki displaying emotion And that last is only a spoiler if you know its a spoiler, since there is plenty of non Shoushitsu fanart where Yuki displays emotions

forum #36073 for the last discussion.

They're each visually distinct enough to be considered separate from regular Yuki and Haruhi and are most popular variations in Shoushitsu, so they got separate character tags.

IIRC that's what I was thinking when I made them, along with wanting to make tagging and searching for them easier.

I also believed they could be used to filter images and characters which are part of Shoushitsu as a whole, like the roof scene but aren't of that alternate world.

I still think they have some use. I'm not as tied to it as I once was, however. Just as long as suzumiya_haruhi_no_shoushitsu remains untouched.

Should something be done to address the redundancy then? Since shoushitsu does have it's own master tag, then perhaps the shoushitsu character tags should simply be stricken, since like jxh mentioned it takes a two tag search for pretty much the same result.

Fencedude also brings up a good point. I've seen a fair amount of images, especially with Yuki, that had the shoushitsu tag added erroneously because people don't want to consider that it's an author created universe were Yuki displays emotion. You don't see the same problem with shoushitsu Haruhi because she's visually distinctive, but it's still been a problem in some cases.

I never knew Shoushitsu Nagato was such a problem. Some mistags early, but not many that I can recall seeing recently. Yeah, there's non-Shoushitsu stuff where she's emotional, as well, but whether or not she has glasses is usually a tipoff and referring back to Pixiv (if it's from there) often helps.

It really doesn't need its own character tag though. She's not that distinct for our purposes.

Well, that's another matter. My response was directed more toward the emotional Nagato tangent immediately beforehand.

Considering she had them originally in the non-Shoushitsu timeline, it's really not.

It is when emotion, reference to Shoushitsu, or artist say-so is also involved.

Artist say-so and blatant Shoushitsu references I will grant points on, but fanartists and doujinshi authors have been drawing Nagato as quite emotive since the first season came out, maybe earlier.

"Nagato with glasses and emotions" is not a concept exclusive to Shoushitsu!Nagato in the world of fanworks, so it should be dismissed as an applicable argument.

Right, but I reckon a majority of it since Shoushitsu is due to that.

I'm not totally against a pool, but I see no reason why emotional Nagato can't be continued to be tagged as Shoushitsu as long as it's obviously from there.

Because there is no reason for that to get a distinguishing tag.

And as I said before, that's one matter that was being talked about, and this is another. It has little to do with nagato_yuki_(shoushitsu).
