Tag Implication: camcorder -> camera

Posted under General

Disagree with this, they are visually unique and distinct. The line between camcorder and camera may have become more hazy as of late but old-school camcorders look nothing like slr/disposable cameras.

I haven't been around much so I might be wrong on implication vs alias, but I think that camcorder should implicate camera. While they both have a distinct general appearance, they are more or less used for the same action, which is to capture a photograph or video footage.

It depends on what the camera tag is for, if it is for devices that only (or predominately) capture still images that would be different than if it was intended as a more general tag to cover any device that captures images, whether still or moving.

As for having camcorder imply movie_camera, I'm flat out against that. There may be only two images under movie_camera, but the tag is intended for cameras that actually use film reels to capture video.

Since it is related, can we unalias video_camera -> camcorder? It's not like all video cameras are the type that also are recorders (ie camera recorders). I've kind of wanted to claim that tag for images like post #521645 (CCTV camera) and post #382700 (security cameras). I've tagged them tv_camera, but that should really be for the large type like post #424388.
