Question on Sources

Posted under General

I'm supposing that Danbooru does some method of translating the "raw" or "direct" source link of a Pixiv image into the regular page link when you actually click on it.

For instance, post #807105 has http://img15.pixiv.net/img/nitrounknown/5352980.jpg listed as its source, whereas you're directed to http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=5352980 when you click on it.

However, this seems to be broken for images inside one of those manga-reading style Pixiv pools. post #810422 is sourced at http://img21.pixiv.net/img/zyend/15275085_big_p0.jpg but clicking on it takes you to an invalid URL. If you go to http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=manga&illust_id=15275085&type=scroll manually, you can find it.

Should images in these types of Pixiv groups be source-linked to their specific image where users have to jury-rig a method of actually finding the originals (either by going to the artists page to find Pixiv tags or by copy-and-pasting the source to get the raw image) or linked to the viewing-mode page which actually contains the images?

All Danbooru does is tack the filename ("5352980") onto the end of "http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=" (or mode=manga, as appropriate). The source link on the post page has the name of the actual source but points to this new created URL.

The problem with big manga sources is already known. It's a very simple fix, and it will eventually be implemented. Leave the direct source links as they are. Do not replace them with the viewing-mode links. I've already had to correct a dozen or more users about this very mistake. In the meantime, if you want to go to the source page, just make the link manually as described above.
