Hourly limit?

I can't seem to make any posts, I just keep getting told I reached my hourly limit, despite not ever having made a post before and trying to make posts literally days apart from one another. What gives?

New accounts cannot upload posts until they are a week old.

Sigh..

Aw damn it, now I just feel like an idiot. I didn't even *find* that page when looking around for a possible reason...

This really needs to be made clearer. Expecting new users to pick out a critical detail from the middle of the ToS is not a reasonable expectation.

Agreeing with Coconut here. And I'd expect that many users wouldn't read the TOS to begin with, unfortunately.

Maybe we could make a dialog for new users that can be display that they cannot upload posts or make comments for one week. Something in the similar style of the "Before commenting, read the how to comment guide" message that is displayed at the top of the comments.

There is a link to howto:upload at the top of every upload page; perhaps a note on this subject should be dropped into it.

It won't help if they're using DanbooruUp to post, but it might help.

That said, if they wouldn't bother reading the TOS, they'll probably ignore the howto:* pages as well, as the habitual ignoring of howto:comment shows.

I was just trying to make an off-hand comment on a picture, not upload anything, so I didn't bother with "howto:upload"

Not sure if it was my bad for assuming "upload" only meant pictures instead of comments, too.

Well, it doesn't hurt to ask questions about anything here you don't fully understand. At least you did that (something else most new users wouldn't bother with).

On the whole hourly limit thing, I know you're allowed to bump two images via comments an hour, but even when you bump on your first comment, not bump on your second, you can't bump with your third.

Yeah, you get two comments per hour before you can't bump any more, regardless of whether those two were bumpers. It was a big reason I went Priveledged. I still don't bump with many of my comments, but after having posted a couple then having one that ought to bump and thus having to leave the image open for an hour got really irritating.

Though, maybe hooking $20 is the plan afterall... :3
