After posting post #861938, I wonder if a tag large_wings or something like that would be appropriate for images like this. I was thinking the guidelines would be the height of the wings is approximately body height, or maybe 3/4. Thoughts?
Retroactively tagging this would probably take forever, though...

I think it's alright to start tagging large wings, just like other precedences that indicate differences in size/length. Will need the implication large_wings -> wings.
I'm thinking we could judge it either height, length, or a combination of both, and the specific dimensions would depend on what we're looking at.
Example 1: The wings can conceivably cover the majority of a character's body (post #851660)
Example 2: The wingspan can stretch very far (post #857462)

On humanoid characters, yeah. Typically, artists will proportion the wings so that, when the wings are fully extended, the distance from the shoulder to the elbow of the wing is about the same as that on the arm, and the rest of the wing is roughly the same length (not counting the feathers).
More than that would be fairly big.
reese has a point about non-humanoid characters, though. Your point about the large surface area measurement is a good one as well.
Is post #851660 really that large? Generally, for most winged creatures, wings of that relative size wouldn't be particularly unusual. Or are we just using a fictional standard, since in fiction tiny wings often somehow support large bodies?
