Pardon my lack, or excess, of bureucratic sense, but I don't think I would help by writing a reason, in this case.

I could simply say "The former is a subset of the latter.", which is the true reason after all, but then I would only be writing too much text for other people to read or ignore.

In your reason, you would want to say what skating generally refers to. At first, I thought you might be talking about skateboarding.

What non-ice form of skating is there? Wouldn't an alias make more sense? Are we using skating for rollerskating as well (another implication perhaps)?

I assumed rollerskating / rollerblading was the other type of skating intended here.
