Some quick questions

Posted under General

Apologies in advance if some of these questions seem "nooby", but I could not find satisfactory answers to them even after a bit of searching and wiki-scanning. If anyone here could answer these questions, please do! It would help clear up a lot of things.

  • What happens to an image's photo notes and comments if it somehow fails to be approved after three days in the mod queue? Are they deleted while the image data remains, or do they get preserved as well? (More precisely, will all the translations on this post disappear if it isn't approved the first time around? post #951241)
  • Are the tags highres, absurdres, and incredibly absurdres mutually exclusive? Should an image that is 10001x600 have all three of those tags, or only the highest applicable tag?
  • How come I cannot edit the "type" of a new tag? When I tried to change some new tags (with less than 10 posts, like dokuganryuu_masamune and some others) from "general" to "character" in the Tags tab, I was told "Access Denied" and asked to log in again when I clicked "edit". Does this limit of 10 somehow include deleted posts, or is http://danbooru.donmai.us/forum/show/46785 inaccurate?
  • Some tags show up under the Tags tab as the correct type (i.e. Character), but are displayed as an incorrect type when viewed on a post that actually contains said tag. How long do tag type changes usually require to take effect?
  • How exactly do I affect an image's score? I do not seem to be able to change the score of an image, and the wiki page about:score (which is what I was linked to from howto:get started) does not exist.

Thanks to anyone who can provide an answer to any of these questions.

Nope, they stick around, you can download them via the note API, and you can even see them on the image itself if you're Priv+ and can see deleted images.

Given that absurdres -highres returns no pictures, I'd say they're not mutually exclusive.

Got me.

I've never seen it take longer than a few hours.

From forum #46785: only Priv+ users can vote on posts.

Edit: confound you and your accursed brevity, Log.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, that really answered my questions well :). I forgot to ask this the first time around, but when I am adding image notes to some relatively small text, the small grey square at the bottom right corner of the note box will be a noticeable size relative to the text. Is it good practice to make the box slightly larger than the text so that the grey square isn't obscuring the Japanese, or should the box be the exact size of the text, regardless of whether or not the box obscures a portion of it?

(Illustration of what I'm talking about: http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/5993/unled1tl.png)

Typically best practice is to make the box as small as is reasonable, and just highlight the text. If the text is in a squared off speech bubble, and the box isn't too large, you can fit the note to that.

Diagonals are problematic, and typically I just try to make a compromise with something that covers as much text as I can without straying too far outside it. This usually leads to a smallish rectangle in the center of the text.

I never really worry about the note box obscuring anything, since you can hide/show notes by clicking the image itself, and that goes double for text, because anyone who's reading the notes is unlikely to care about the text underneath.
