character_doll -> doll was brought up in the past and rejected. I'll just copy paste what jjj14 said in forum #52890.

This was decided against in forum #42792 because of things like puppets (post #596258) and teruterubouzu (post #746339).
Implicated:
daruma_doll
hina_doll_set
matryoshka_doll
voodoo_doll
About doll_hug. I was thinking it wouldn't fit if someone were hugging a non-doll character doll but then I guess you wouldn't add doll_hug. Done this too.
Should paper_doll fit? I'm not sure.

Really? Sure, the tags have the word "doll" in them, but they aren't what I would call a traditional doll. They're more like mantle ornaments.
Ditto with paper_doll.

Do stuffed animals count as dolls? I often use doll hug for when a character is hugging a stuffed animal. plush hug was aliased to doll hug some time ago, apparently.
I would say that anything linking stuffed_animal and doll would be incorrect since they are difference concepts (human vs animal) and I can't think of any overlap.
Either the doll hug -> doll implication needs to go, allowing us to use doll hug for dolls, stuffed animals, and other types of plush toys, or we separate doll hug and plush hug and use them appropriately.
Personally I prefer the former to avoid any confusion over which to use. doll currently says the toy can be either hard or soft (as well as human or creature, which is probably a mistake?), and a soft doll would most likely be a plush toy. I don't want to make a stuffed animal hug tag because there are plush toys of miscellaneous objects (post #863973) that wouldn't fall under either tag.
Perhaps aliasing doll hug to toy hug or something similar for this purpose would be a good idea. This way it could conceivably include figures and model mechs/trains/etc.

Yup it's wrong
doll
noun
1.
a small figure representing a baby or other human being, especially for use as a child's toy.
If we can't come up with a solid definition of doll then I might as well remove any and all implications related to it. The lines we're drawing are just too blurry to me, and those that are suggesting strict definitions seem to be a bit more restrictive than what I've encountered in common usage.
All doll implications have been removed. I don't see another way to handle this other than manual tag gardening.

I think the most important aspect is that a doll has to be human, beyond that I think we can have some play with the concept.
