Right now band tags seem to be split between being typed character and copyright, so which one is it? Personally I think it should be copyright, because bands are collections of characters, which is how we define a copyright here if a recall correctly.

Technically, wouldn't every real person come under copyright?
Which bands specifically are characters, there may be a reason they're set as that.
These ones that I know of.

I could understand Dio, since Dio is what people call Ronnie James Dio, but that should still be a copyright by my reckoning.

Like under one big copyright. Such as real_person, or something less stupid?
Well, I have no idea what it's called, but vaguely recall there being some sort of rules for using real-life people in art without needing their permission... famous people in particular being "acceptable targets".
Alignn didn't mean an umbrella he means the tagtype.
I imagine they're all tagtyped as characters because iron maiden is by all appearances the oldest and it was probably already tagtyped as character.

My assumption is that bands would be copy, individual members of the bane would be char: like other real people, and tagged with their personal names.
So copy:radiohead_(band) and char:thom_yorke
