Aerial battle comprises more than just a dogfight, since a dogfight is at relatively close range between planes. Aerial battle seems to encompass a lot more.
But then again, adding plane or a specific plane to a search will eliminate that non-plane battles, and I doubt we have any over-the-horizon or other long range fights depicted, so I guess it wouldn't be that much of a problem.
(Personally, I would've used aerial battle had I been aware of it at the time.)

I like the tag dogfighting because it's more specific, emphasizing aircraft vs aircraft, unlike post #966452.

What about actual dogs fighting?
Is this something we have or ever will need to tag on Danbooru? If we do, dog fighting works. Dogfighting is clearly always aerial combat in my mind.

Noun (dogfight) over gerund verb (dogfighting) feels vastly more natural in this case despite what we usually do, but that might just be me.
Since we use the term catfight, not "catfighting",
same thing could be applied on dogfight as well.
Haven't changed it yet though.
So, I fully support aliasing dogfighting -> dogfight.
