Issue regarding bontenmaru_(oda_nobuna_no_yabou)

Posted under General

As discussed in post #1246737, there're some discussion regarding bontenmaru_(oda_nobuna_no_yabou).

Namely, this character is always introduced as "Bontenmaru" (see, for example, post #1230357). However, it is more than clear that she is a young, genderswapped Date Masamune. So the questions here is:

  • Should the current tag be kept, or should that tag be aliased to something like date_masamune_(oda_nobuna_no_yabou)?
  • Currently the 4 posts containing her are also given a plain Date_Masamune tag. Should users cease that practice?
  • If the answer to the first question is "no" and the second question is "yes," is any kind of implication proper?

  • imho, we can use bontenmaru_(oda_nobuna_no_yabou) for that particular character atm. besides she introduced herself using that name. and in case, the full name is not a spoiler (i watch the anime only) then we can request an alias later on. and based on the comment, a grown-up version might arise later on and a tag might be needed to differenciate it from the younger one, when she assumed a different name.

date_masamune is ambiguous and should refer to the historical person.

and i also like to take this opportunity to ask the naming convention in naming characters in period anime, oda_nobuna_no_yabou in particular. i noticed niwa_nagahide was moved to niwa_nagahide_(oda_nobuna_no_yabou) but there's no instance that niwa_nagahide was used for other personalities (yet). should we move maeda_inuchiyo too?

I did the move. Niwa_Nagahide is a historical figure so, based on the Date_Masamune example above, I think the "plain" tag should only be reserved for the historical figure.

As for Inuchiyo... While "Inuchiyo" is Maeda_Toshiie's childhood name, the historical figure is seldom known by that name, and this is why I kept it as is-- just like we don't make Oda_Nobuna into Oda_Nobunaga_(oda_nobuna_no_yabou).

  • Just a thought: For ease of typing, would it be possible to use a shorter qualifier than _(oda_nobuna_no_yabou)? Maybe 'nobuna', which is the hashtag used by the official twitter (anime_odanobuna.)
