Mass uploading revisions

Some revisions honestly make no sense (post #1015737 and post #1017695), but by default all past revisions get parented to the latest one even if the latest one appears "worse" to the uploader.

Well your example would probably be a "minor" revision, I think it might be a bad example for your argument. Certainly the artist flipping the image was odd, but that was not the only change in the image (which was why I approved it). Here is a gif to see the changes (backup link ). I think the most notable was the removable of the small jagged line that had to have been an overlooked error, but I think the artist was right in also filling out more the ghost half's tail and that the final revision came out a bit nicer for it.

Updated

With that youmu I honestly find the revision overall more aesthetically pleasing and apparently the artist agrees if they took the time to upload it. Even if the revisions are minor the flip does something visually that the original didn't.

Well, someone has to run over the revisions to double check them. post #1294847 (revision) in comparison to post #1008370 is in a worse condition.

It's not worse, at least objectively not worse. Revision is less contrast and its darker parts are slightly more visible. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to a personal preferences.
However, I also like the initial version more.
