Danbooru

And now i deleted one of my own pics...

Posted under General

Well,i'm not sure if i should even write this...

Just a moment ago i added one pic.
I didn't know the name of the author or the character, the pic was in high resolution and repeated pics are rejected so i added it.

A few moments after i discovered that the pic was already added in "absurdres" resolution so i deleted it.
I think i readed someplace that pics that are deleted by yourself aren't added to your deleted posts account.
But i was wrong.
And none of my pics was deleted lately... :P

And now i'm thinking that maybe i shouldn´t have deleted it,that not everyone likes absurdres pics.
I don't know.
So it´s really a big deal or i shouldn't worry too much?
If a pic is added in "absurdres" resolution a "highres" resolution is accepted?

Pd:english is not my native language,so sorry for the errors.

The short answer is: don't worry about it.

Longer: duplicate images usually aren't deleted, but instead they're parented to the biggest picture (or best quality picture). But we've also been known to delete the low quality images if there are no favorites on it. As for the "deleted posts" count, one or two deleted posts aren't going to make a difference for invites, or pretty much anything really, so don't worry about that.

I recently uploaded a complete version of a sketchy pic i posted last month, parented it, and then deleted the sketchy one; all the favorites are automatically moved to the parent, not sure if you knew :)

Thanks for the answers.

If i understood correctly(it seems i don't know everything about the way danbooru works and,as i said before,my english is not perfect...)lesser resolution pics aren't always deleted and i should have waited to the mods decission...

My pic is still viewable
post #256159
and what Yara is saying is that if i click in delete again it will disappear completely, still remaining in my delete count?

I'll keep trying, but this is the last time i add a pic without knowing the character´s name, unless it has been posted one minute ago in the artist page. :p

I was under the same impression and deleted one of my pictures, but found the same result. Just something we have to accept.

DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN. Sketches are valuable on their own, do NOT remove them only because a "complete" version is posted. That holds for pretty much everything, duplicates included: do not delete things without a really good reason, which is pretty much limited to being of horrible quality or completely off-topic.

Of course i wouldnt do that to every pic I upload. But that one was just bad. post #224089 Smaller than this already small finished version, and I wouldnt even have uploaded it if I had found it now. And i dont see why i shouldnt delete my own posts?

Because they're "yours" only in that you're listed as the uploader. But no matter who deletes them, it's still data loss, and other people will want to look and/or fav your posts too, and not necessarily what you upload instead (I for one prefer sketches to very many finished versions). Not to mention that once a post is "yours", no-one else can make it "theirs" forever, so the question of ownership is moot as far as deciding whether to delete.
