Danbooru

Wouldn't it be cool to have a new way of viewing images?

Posted under General

I've been on this site for quite some time now and I always find this site to be entertaining. But lately its been harder and harder to find good images because there's just so much out there. I was thinking that if the Danbooru staff could make this idea I have work than it would be awesome.

I was thinking more along the lines of an option to view "all images" one after the other. And in the process it would ask you if you would want to "favorite" it, "skip" it, "dislike" it, or "discard it from "image list" of the user's account only. I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to have you picture here, but the idea is that the account user is able to sort out his favorites or whatever faster. This way not only would you (Danbooru) gain more reference and data from users, but also the users themselves would be much more active to come back time and time again.

The option to view "all images" could be apart of the hot bar on top of the site (where My Account, Posts, etc. is located at). And if possible, maybe even include a memory system so that viewers can come back to the same image once they've given their response to the image (favorite,dislike,skip,discard,etc.). I was thinking that the option for "discard" would be different from "dislike" because "discard" would mean that the viewer doesn't like the image but does not wish to say it is bad. "dislike" would take the meaning of that the image itself (not the artist) is not favorable if you will.

I know this is a lot to ask, but if this is able to be done I'd appreciate it a lot. Many others would too I believe. Maybe even include more volunteer staff to help you out on this one, LOL. Maybe even include a small bar for advertisement on "veiw all" site to keep up the server XD.(I don't know much about coding and managing sites like this, so I truly hope I didn't recommend something too hard to accomplish.)

What do you the viewers think? I'd certainly like to know.

Notice that "view all" images would have images set one after another. I noticed that each image is already determined as a post number, so maybe use those post numbers as an order in which a person views images, but if possible please randomize it. This way viewers look at one image at a time and are able to judge them accordingly or provide commentary. Or have the viewers choose the amount of images they want view at a time and leave little buttons on the bottom that represent "favorite","dislike",&"discard". If viewers wish to see multiple images at a time, "skip" option is not needed since they can just scroll over it. the purpose of mentioning the "skip" option was for in one-full image view at a time.

During that option choice of viewing one image at a time, the viewer is able to skip the image and come back to it for further review of the image later. And in due time, the viewer will be able to see all the images on Danbooru. Most images nowadays are lost in the spectrum and now the only way to see it is to search for it directly, but what if the viewer doesn't know of the image. In that case, the image wouldn't be found as easily. But through the "view all" option, the viewer is absolutely going to be able to see it.

You should break your posts up into paragraphs. It's difficult to read walls of text.

LOL there can you read it better now XD ?
Sorry about that, I just had a lot on my mind that I wanted to say so I didn't consider about format and stuff like that.

I'm not sure just what exactly it is you're trying to suggest here, but if what you want is a way for users to be able to browse all the posts in the site sequentially and easily favorite them, then I don't see the point.

You can already do that super-easily with the slideshow mode combined with the appropriate tag search (ordering by post id or something) and keyboard shortcuts.

Search for *, then click on the first image. That's it, you can browse the all the posts using navigation bar or keyboard shortcuts. "Image list" you're suggesting is mighty useless - that's what favorites are for, for the posts you want to revisit later.

One nice suggestion, though, is viewing random post; I opened issue #1938 for now, but it should be thoroughly discussed first.

Lol sorry I'm still kind of new at this site so I didn't realize there was such a thing as slideshow mode. But what I originally thought of was similar to that. But what I really want to consider is that during the slide show mode you can "discard" single images (because all images of that type aren't the same) and in doing so, the viewer wouldn't see the image in that list when casually scrolling. Maybe a feature of " return to last image" might be good in that cycle in slide show mode. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's a slide show mode. in the mode selection on the left hand side of posts and tag searches.

If a person filters out a tag, then all images with that tag are excluded from the list of images the viewer sees, but what "discard" is is that the image the viewer wants discarded won't show up in "view all" or in this case "slide show mode"
