Reason: Full name, apparently. Dunno how integral the "Princess" title is to the character, but "Princess Bubblegum" is more readily identifiable.

She's referred to as Bonnibel once in 5 seasons and it's basically a spoiler.

Does that apply to Marceline's surname, too?

I think she's only referred to as Abadeer once or twice outside the Nightosphere double episode, it's not until season 4-5 that her name's actually used but it's not really a spoiler like Bubblegum's is.
