Flying nimbus, as explained on its wiki page (big thanks to henmere), encompasses both the jindou yun in Journey to the West and the kinto'un in the Dragon Ball franchise.
I'd also suspect that the widespread popularity of the latter's dub means that "flying nimbus" is the more familiar term, but that's mostly speculation on my part.
