I just made an account to say that while I know this is just some fanart, I really really really dislike Miko's response. She's royalty and would definitely spring for much more than that in a man.

She's still "Crown Prince" in ZUN's canon as well. If we were to template Shotoku's life onto Miko, then there must be a reason why the first child, despite being female, was bestowed the title and then becoming a regent during the recognized reign of first empress regent Suiko. Alternate history, perhaps.
