Hell, remembering when hexagons still were pretty much standard in tabletop gaming dates me. I still don't really get why hexagons went out of fashion.

You can't find hexagon graph paper at your local office supply store, but you can probably find square graph paper.

Maybe also because the coordinate system for hexagon is harder than the one for square?
