I think this is the first comic like this I've actually liked. Bravo, Chado.
Now make a sequel about Byakuren's stay in Makai!
Too bad there aren't many who make that. At most, they only made a glimpse about it.
Some included Shinki keeping her company, talking about each other's "familiy", and some had Byakuren traveling Makai and befriending monsters(MH monsters, at that) and demons(Megaten, even Hitoshura) from games along the way, just because Shinki loved playing those and decided to put them in Makai.
I believe playing this while reading it will help.
I...I cried... this is just too much Reading the last strip, letting it sink it along with the sounds of the Violin... it is just too much ...that doll... Hijiri's face... oh god
This, I enjoyed. I know this is going to sound hideously mean, but I enjoyed seeing Byakuren being portrayed as being a fallible, selfish, bigoted human being, rather than perfect, as it makes her current persona all the more satisfying. It shows that even the greatest of us weren't born that way, we had to grow into that role. Her realization that she had become a bigger monster than the creatures she befriended makes her subsequent atonement, and the second chance she would later receive, all the more pleasing.

Though I prefer when she's genuinely kind and overall a good person, I don't hate it when they do this. Same reason as you, I believe a person who have gone through the worst is the one that can truly be good. The only one that kinda went overboard is Stripe Pattern(though everyone is kinda screwed in the head there) and some H-doujins. Chado pretty much did it the best, but I prefer her realizing it before gathering her crews. Though it won't be as touching so, I guess that's the charm of this book.
There's another UFO origin book that I want to do, which is by far, my favorite among them. I don't want to spoil, all I can say is that it's long. I'll get to it after I sort things out a bit, so please be patient.
I read this many times, and this page and the page where Shou crying while standing from afar always makes me tear up. The first time I read this, tears actually flowed down my face. And thanks for the song, monhan. It goes pretty well with the ending
No matter how much time it'll takewe definitely will.
