One of the faults of commercial dubbing and subbing is a failure to balance accuracy to the original wording with accuracy to the colloquial meaning.
Literal would be what this line is translated as in the official DVD. Colloquial would be, as you said, "Listen to me!" And, unfortunately, there's not much middle ground between them.
Perhaps something like "If we could just talk this over...!" would have been more appropriate at times.
