The guardian of civilization and the manifestation of mankind's advancements, she chose the form of an owl to represent wisdom. Character designed by Azuuru, her personal emoji is 🪶 (feather).
Despite her seemingly innocent and clueless demeanor at debut, time has shown Mumei to be rather sharp-witted and prone to behaving erratically. She occasionally shows a "psychopathic" side, tormenting her enemies (or even her friends) while appearing calm and collected. She is also fond of trolling others, and will do things like intentionally fail at a game to spite the in-game characters, her chat, or her opponents.
In spite of this, she seems to get along well with just about everyone in Hololive, especially her genmates in Holocouncil.
It is common to see her paired in a yuri relationship with her genmate Ouro Kronii, due to their tendency to flirt with each other in collab streams and because Kronii's "gap moe" (cool, calm demeanor betraying a softer cuter side) is an effective contrast to Mumei's personality (cute demeanor betraying a calm collected side). This is especially apparent in horror game streams where Kronii is quite easy to scare and Mumei generally does not react at all.
A slightly less common but still popular ship also pairs her with Ceres Fauna, both because of the lore significance of civilization's complex relationship with nature and because their shared love for all things "cute" and "cursed" tends to lead to fun and unpredictable on-stream interactions.
