Prominent background character from One Piece. The legendary "King of the Pirates" and the previous owner of the "One Piece", the eponymous treasure of the series. After being captured by the World Government and about to be executed, he urged the spectators to find the "One Piece" and other treasures collected during his lifetime, thus starting the Age of Pirates.
He was the lover of Portgas D. Rouge and father of Portgas D. Ace, making him the uncle of Monkey D. Luffy.
