prayer beads

Beads used to count the repetitions of prayers, chants, or devotions by members of various religions, including Christianity (Catholicism, Anglicanism), Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and the Bahá'í Faith. They may also be used for meditation, protection from negative energy, or for relaxation.

May also apply to the similar prayer rope used by Orthodox Christians, despite their material is fabric or cord-based.
